15 Perseverance

ION Development

New Construction

The home at 15 Perseverance was a new construction project in the ION development in Mt. Pleasant South Carolina. All houses in the ION development represented the Neo traditional style found in historic Charleston.

The house was built for an owner who wanted to age in place in the home and connected the home’s upstairs and downstairs master suites by an elevator. A home office and wrap around porch in the back of the property gave the owner a secondary entrance for her clients and an easy way to separate family life and work life.

Building on a long lot that has a wide easement on one side of the property, meant taking advantage of the easement by pushing construction as far to one side as possible to maximize the distance between houses. This helped make room for a spacious porch. The home had two screened in porches and decks worked as nooks for privacy.

The garage was in far back of the lot and the owner asked for a screened in walkway from the garage to the home. This created a unique opportunity for an outside, screened in, living area between the house and garage, complete with a fireplace.
